There is no specific timeframe for how long customs may keep hold of your parcel for. Some packages may take just a few days, and other times it can take much longer. There are number of reasons why your parcel may be delayed in customs, and these include:
- A large number of parcels for customs to sort through at once
- An issue with the paperwork of your parcel
- Inclusion of a prohibited or restricted item
- Delays in payments of any charges or fees
You will be able to see how long your parcel will remain in customs for when you track your parcel. This will allow you to see the status of your individual parcel. Your courier should also inform you as soon as your parcel requires customs payments.
